Site identity is your unique identification that distinguishes your site from others.
Before you blur the distinction between Site Logo and FavIcon, let me tell you they aren’t the same.
All Favicons aren’t the site logos but all site logos can be employed as Favicons like what most corporations do.
Site logo is a graphic representation of your brand used to relay a brand’s message to users.
While Site Icon is a simplified version of the logo or just an icon to elevate user experience. FavIcon is the first thing that gets noticed in SERPs (Search Engine Result Page) when someone references your site.
When users open multiple tabs in a web browser, the site icon helps them to correctly identify and reference the page they are looking for.
In order to set or change your site logo or favicon:
- First head to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance >> Customize to open the theme customizer.
- Then navigate to Header Settings >> Site Identity
- Under General Tab, click on Select Logo to upload your logo.
- Enter your Site Title and Tagline here.
- Uncheck or check the check box just below the Tagline if you want to hide or display the Title and Tagline respectively at the header section.
- Under the Style Tab, you can change the Header text color as per your need.
- Under the General tab, click on Select Site Icon to upload your Favicon.
